Have you ever seen something and thought to yourself, "gee I would love to be a part of that." Well in my case that happened two days ago when I came across an issue of blu. blu is an independent magazine in Charlotte, NC and has already released 4 issues! The budding of this magazine is endless. Being that Charlotte is one of the fastest growing cities in our country right now, with an emphasis on art and culture, this magazine is sure to be a hit!
While I just discovered a little trendy consignment shop named Hong Kong (also a very awe-inspiring spot), I also discovered this magazine. It was as if it was a calling. I had just got off the phone with my boyfriend, in one of those "I don't know what to do with my life" conversations when this happened. You know, it's funny that these things happen just when you need them. The light in my head lit up and I told my self, "Alisa, you HAVE to get in with this magazine!" The art, the fashion, the music, and street culture of Charlotte that is portrayed in this magazine is everything I feel passionate about. Even the layouts, design and image of this magazine is some thing I would most definitely love to be a part of. The only problem is, I am still a student at The Art Institute of Charlotte with about 8 months to go. Still, this does not rule out the possibility of an internship, right? Who knows, maybe because they are a small infant magazine they wouldn't mind taking in the extra help. Oh and did I mention it would be free? I can only hope (and be persistent) and maybe make my vision become reality. It's like my father always told me, "the squeaky wheel will always get the grease." Let's hope he's right in my case.
